Research on discrimination requires the trust of those who experience it. UNDETERRED’s ethical framework is not a compliance exercise — it is a foundational commitment, embedded in every phase of the fieldwork.

Our commitments

Informed consent
Every participant is fully informed of the nature of the research, how their data will be used, and their right to withdraw at any time.

Anonymisation
All interview and survey data is systematically anonymised. No individual can be identified in any publication or output.

GDPR compliance
The project operates in full conformity with European data protection regulations across all four national contexts.

Secure data hosting
All research data is stored on Huma-Num, the French national academic infrastructure for humanities and social sciences research.

Governance

Ethics oversight is piloted by the University of Bordeaux (LACES) under WP6, ensuring consistent application of ethical standards across all partner institutions and research sites.
