UNDETERRED’s methodology combines quantitative and qualitative approaches, deployed simultaneously across four cities. The goal: to capture both the scale of systemic discrimination and the lived reality behind the numbers.


Field Research Timeline

Phase 1 — Online surveys (April – September 2023)

  • Students at the partner universities in Barcelona, Bordeaux, Bucharest and Lausanne
  • Residents of working-class neighbourhoods in all four cities

Phase 2 — In-depth interviews (April 2024 – April 2025)

  • Young adults (students and neighbourhood residents)
  • HR managers and business leaders
  • Public service and association managers

Phase 3 — Focus groups (September 2024 – April 2026)

  • People experiencing discrimination across the four key fields: housing, employment, health, education
